Alicia
and Canadian jazz piano virtuoso Marilyn Lerner join forces to create Jewish
instrumental music like you've never heard it before, spinning symphonies out
of simple melodies on the fly. Expect the unexpected!
New! Golems of Gotham
With
words and original music for unaccompanied violin, Svigals and author Thane
Rosenbaum present their adaptation of the Golems of Gotham, the
acclaimed third novel in Rosenbaum's post-Holocaust trilogy (whose main
character, a klezmer-fiddle playing child, is modelled in part on Alicia!). A
panel discussion moderated by a literary critic is also available for after the
show.
The 92nd St. Y's program director Arielle Listokin wrote to Alicia about the premiere of Golems of Gotham: Words do not do justice to the beautiful performance you gave. I have never before seen a Y audience connect so completely with a performer the way they did to you.
